“They better quit watching The NFL Network all day and they better quit playing their video game, and get off the cell phone and the Blackberries and all that stuff, and get outside here on the nice, green grass. Find a place to run and run. And then run again, and run again.”

What Kids say about Love
Just in case you were wondering if little kids are paying attention…..
Touching words from the mouths of babes.
What does Love mean? (more…)
Quote from Tex Winter
I read almost all of, “The Last Season” by former Bulls Coach Phil Jackson that chronicles the season that Shaq, Kobe, Gary Payton and Karl Malone were all LA Lakers on the way back from Vegas.
This quote by Tex Winter struck me as true:
“You are only a success at the moment that you do a successful act”
Phil Jackson explains that quote further with, “You can’t be a sucecss the next moment because you have already moved on to do something else, even if it’s accepting the award for the successful moment that just passed. That is why I’ve always told my players the glorification comes from the journey, not the outcome.”
Gandhi Quote
“Every worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory.”
–Mahatma Gandhi
You’re Pretty. I like you
Al in all dating a Balinese girl is WAY more straightforward in the beginning than a westerner. You can say “You’re pretty, I like you.” and that will be taken for exactly that. Try saying that to a westerner, they’ll think you are mentally ill.

Excerpt from Crazybusy
The past 10 days have been crazybusy for me. I have been pushing myself todo as much as humanly possible in 24 hour periods. I want the trip to be a worthwhile investment for the BnA Community, so I internalize it and go fucking hard, for a long time.
A friend just passed on this quote to me that sorta relates to the above: Read it after the jump.
Your Edge: Step outside your comfort zone
“If you stand in the center, you will never be amazed. You will safely see
what you have already seen, know what you already know. You will never
start a fire in the mind of another or be party to the exuberant chaos of
invention. But if you are bold – if you step to the edge – you can unlock
the embrace of the familiar and open your mind to the daring notions of
others. When you venture to the perimeter of your understanding, your eyes
widen, your senses sharpen, your intellect becomes more agile”. -unknown
We talk a lot about getting outside your comfort zone – wheather it is work, travel – whatever. Great quote. (thanks for sending JR)

Dalia Lama Speech at Rutgers
"This whole planet is just us," the 70-year-old exiled monk said
Sunday. "Therefore, destruction of another area essentially is
destruction of yourself."
I would love to read the full text of his speech – nothing on google so far.
How to avoid Boredom, Vice and Want
I like work. Always have. Like the shape and focus it
gives my days, the opportunity to put something of
myself into an endeavour. Like how it makes me feel
I’m accomplishing something.I’m not alone. Work relieves us from three great
evils: boredom, vice and want: A French proverb. Work
is love made visible: Kahlil Gibran. One of my
favourite pieces of advice about work – and life –
comes from humorist Mark Twain: Work like you don’t
need the money. Love like you’ve never been hurt.
Dance like nobody is watching.
