Gross National Happiness

I love this way of thinking.  It kinda relates to the joy vs stuff post from last week.  If they develop a mathematical way of figuring out the GHP – it would be neat to apply it on a personal level – or how can I measure my gross happiness?

Just saw the Constant Gardener.  Awesome.

Check out this Sport Gossip site.  Freakin’ funny.

Stuff happening in the world

A boxer died

A levee busted in NO

Donovan came into the office today saying all the people on the freeway in Texas are stuck and have to deal with Rita.  One town (not sure which one) has like 37,000 residents and they are all stuck cuz all the highways are jammed.  The TV guy said a lot of people will die.  I hope not.

Chris and I have a trip planned to Houston for 6 months – we are supposed to leave on Thursday morning and see the Cubs v Houston for the final 4 games of the year with Freesia and Felicia.  Doesn’t look like that is happening now.

I went to see a play last nite.  It was good.  I want to see it again if possible.

Ryne Sandberg in the Hall of Fame

Back from awesome fishing weekend in Northern Quebec. So much fun, I can hardly believe I am alive to experience it sometimes.

Meanwhile, uck yeah – Ryno in the HOF. Good story about it here.

Old School, humble, not telling everyone how fucking great you are etc. A lot of hustle thrown in. I love it.

If I ever act like the arseholes he is describing, let me know. I can take it.

Heir Jordan hoping to prove he can play basketball like his father

Michael Jordan’s son goes to Loyola Academy High School….where I went to high school. I hope he deals with the pressure and turns out happy etc no matter what path he ends up on.

Last Known Active Farm Inside Beltway Sold

I found this article interesting. The last known farm inside the DC beltway is dust – making way for a strip mall. Wow…

Having just purchase a rural property and attending the Snowden, WA council meeting last night, stuff like this interests me more. How much development of land is needed? How much is too much?

The more I see of the world through my travels and experiences, the more I think that we as humans have developed too much land and there is simply not enuff space for the number of humans living on this planet or at least not enuff space to live happy and healthy.

Of course, I could be wrong, and maybe we will continue to develop technology that overcomes not enuff space and natural resources. It will be fun to watch…
