Zbigniew Brzezinski: World Affair Council Talk March 10th

HB e-mailed me just before a 5 pm. run yesterday with a ticket to World Affairs Council of Oregon talk by Zbigniew Brzezinski (Hereafter referred to as ZB).

This guy served as Jimmy Carter’s National Security Advisor when Jimmy was Prez. 

Quick rundown of him: Born in Poland, immigrated to Canada at age 10…graduated from McGill then went to Harvard…I think he said he was teaching at Harvard by age 23.  Lotsa Academia stuff b4 the big post under Jimmy.

This guy is an excellent speaker, smart, thoughtful and a pleasure to listen to.  (Did anyone record it for a podcast?) - As tne NSA under Carter, he would meet with him every morning for 1/2 hour to go over the current state of affairs around the world.  The talk he gave last nite, was as if we were the president, and just coming into office…so he ran down what the world should look like in 2020 …and then the risk factors that might prevent it from happening.

After so many years of not really being that interested in World Affairs cuz the news seems to be yelling at me and it goes in one ear and out the other…listening to this guy woke up a part of my brain that has not seen any activity for a while. 

I think I am joining this World Affairs thing as a member so I can hear more intelligent and logical folks talk about this stuff versus yelling emotional crazies on the TV.  Anyone wanna join me?
