Small Farmers are almost gone

My pops was raised on a small farm back in PA in the late 40s and 50s. Many folks like my pops used to live on small farms and be able to make a modest living. KC and I discussed last night, the plight of the small/non-corporate farmer. From what I can see, it is a very difficult business today. In fact, it almost ain’t a business.

She put me onto Agriculture of the Middle.

This term refers to a disappearing sector of mid-scale farms/ranches and related agrifood enterprises that are unable to successfully market bulk commodities or sell food directly to consumers.

I am sure there is so much more to this than I am aware of. Any thoughts?

Twitter Slowness: Same on Evhead

Just had that twitter slowness that I mentioned before when I was loading my blog. I quickly checked Evhead (the head guy at that company) and his was slow as well. So, I’m thinking he knows about it.

It’s not how much you make, it’s how much you keep

Powerball winner broke.

I pretty sure that he is not the only lottery winner to be broke. From my standpoint, I wonder how this happened.

Regards to my old Lincoln Hall Classmate, Peter Axelrad…DJAxel. Check out his mash-ups.

Bob on David Beckham

“…You also have to question his assessment about Beckham becoming an actor. Have you ever heard Becks speak? There aren’t many parts in silent films these days.”

Quote from Tex Winter

I read almost all of, “The Last Season” by former Bulls Coach Phil Jackson that chronicles the season that Shaq, Kobe, Gary Payton and Karl Malone were all LA Lakers on the way back from Vegas.

This quote by Tex Winter struck me as true:

“You are only a success at the moment that you do a successful act”

Phil Jackson explains that quote further with, “You can’t be a sucecss the next moment because you have already moved on to do something else, even if it’s accepting the award for the successful moment that just passed. That is why I’ve always told my players the glorification comes from the journey, not the outcome.”

Twitter Badge Slowness

I put this twitter badge on the top of this site a few months ago. It is a little javascript thingy that pulls my latest twitter update. I noticed it be slow more than a few times and then recently, Mika installed it as well and started bitching at the slowness of it. He has taken it off his site since then.

I am wondering, if Ev/Biz Stone (the blokes who started/have something todo with this company) use the same badges that we use. I don’t goto their sites often, but next time I get teh twitter slowness…I’ll check theirs to see if the same thing afflicts them.

Anyway, if you want to sign-up for my twitter updates, you can so it via SMS and receive these notices on your phone. Just sign-up at twitter.com and subscribe to my updates.
