Brand New Eyes

SeanlasikSean came back from having Lasik eye surgery this afternoon. He was stoked about the operation and how cool it was. Apparently he was clapping about 5 minutes after it was done and anyone that knows him knows that means he’s excited.

He came home, and with some help getting up the stairs, gave us the rundown of what happened. He needs to rest up as much as possible the next several hours and has 3 different drops that have to go into his eyes over the course of 4-5 days.

As he crawled upstairs, looking like a cross between the Terminator and Ray Charles, we knew he’d be back – and now better than ever.

Lasix Surgery Today

After a sensational weekend of work and play in SFO, I am back in PDX for my monday morning meetings.  At noon today, I go in for Lasix surgery.  Here’s to perfect eyesite and a steady doctor’s hand.

Tsunami Photos Recovered and other thoughts

Recovered Tsunami Photos
Gotten off recovered memory card. – Ouch.

In Sunset area with JL – working on project since 7 am.  Joe e is coming by for an 11 am breakfast break.

Migs, JL, Snaps and I went out to Kingfish in rockin’ San Mateo last night.  Migs is frickin hilarious.

Snaps asked what is appropriate to blog and what isn’t the other nite since she was the only non-blogger of the group – she said she would not be sure what is appropriate and what isn’t (I think).  Good question.  I like it to remember and have a laugh with a few friends.  I think.  I like to be able to mark stuff down just for me, share ideas and stuff that doesn’t belong on BnA.  Public note pad that can be responded to and editted.  As for appropriateness…I just hope that I only embarrass myself and close friends that can take it.  Of course, how do I know they can take it?

I am stoked that Kottke is doing full time blogging now and I hope that is works out for him.  Knowing all the folks behind him, it will.

Back to work.

Golden Gate: Part 3 of Epic Runs

This morning I was lucky enough to be crashing at TW house in Sunset, 1/2 block from Golden Gate park.  1st think I did was wake-up and go for a run in it.  It was my 3rd epic run in a huge city park in the past 2 months….( here are links to Van, BC and NY ones – oops never wrote up the run Donovan and I did)

– the sun was shining
– the road/path was all curvy and I had no idea where I was going.
– saw some asian folks doing stretches in the park
– lotsa other joggers, dawg walkers
– lotsa gardens – ran by some hidden lake

It was just excellent…I reckon having big parks in the middle of big cities helps the mental and physical health of it’s inhabitants.  Beside Forest Park in PDX, not sure what other big parks we have.

Why can’t Jason Giambi/Barry Bonds be like this?

“I think my behavior is reprehensible and, as I’ve said 1,000 times, I take responsibility,” Chaney told The Associated Press in a phone interview. “If it’s the judgment of the school to suspend me, I can accept the responsibility of my actions.”

from this.

I reckon this attitude is awesome.  John Chaney sucked it up, and admitted he screwed up.  No bullshitting and having his agent make statements/not answering questions.  A great role model to stand up and admit that he fucked up.  Yes – his actions helped break the kids arm which sucks…but he admitted fault and is taking the penalty like a man.  We do things in the heat of the moment, and sports definately provide those "heat of the moment" moments.  Just look at Ron Artest.

I know growing up, playing sports I was an absolute arsehole to my friends and competitors in the heat of the moment.  My emotions would go crazy and I would do just about anything within the rules and shoot my mouth off to get any advantage possible.  It worked a lot – but really pissed off some folks hardcore.  In fact, a lot of my Chicago buddies still remember me for a lot of those moments and can’t get past them when we visit 10 years later.  Good thing I was on their team most of the time…I was the teammate you loved to have, but hated to go against cuz I was such a jag off.

I am using the term "was" cuz I don’t think I am like that anymore…sports, when I play them, I can just about anything pass…I am more into sports of the exercise and to hang-out – not to win.  Chris and friends who still play sports with me…is this true? (Tell the truth por favor)

San Francisco: Remote Working is kewl

I have been working at the Travelers Tales and Birdcage Press office in Palo Alto this morning.  Jen and I were talking about how kewl it is to be able to work from multiple places like this.  I am thankful for this opportunity.  How neat is it to be able to connect and do what I have todo, but I am not attached to 1 physical place todo it?  Frickin kewl…even thought I have been doing it for X number of years, I still love it.

Beautiful day here…we are off to SF Sunset area in a few hours and will spend the weekend working up there.  I’ll try to take some pics so I can remember how beautiful it is.

Just like I noticed on the way to PDX international…I also noticed the San Francisco Airport Parking when leaving there the other day.  Amazing – all these mini – or maybe not so mini-industries popping up – and until recently, I never noticed them.

Portland International Airport

For the 3rd time this year, I am blogging at PDX. I was telling Chris on the way out here that this is becoming a tradition. As we drove out I noticed all the Portland Airport Parking places that we sell on BootsnAll. Looks like you can park and shuttle to the airport to save some serious cash on parking.

I may try it myself sometime.

Also got the total body scan for the 3rd time at PDX this year. I wonder why I always pop up as a threat or for the full search. Someone told me when you book last minute you are flagged. That would be me.

Leo is picking me up and we have a packed weekend of work and a little bit of play at nite. We are gonna be launching a new website in the next few weeks that should be a lot of fun. Can’t wait to dig into it.

Raw Foodist, Nudist and SFO

Last night I met someone who was a "raw foodist and a nudist" at the same time.  Interesting lifestyle choice.  Never heard of the raw foodist bit and then to combine it with the nudist bit…made for an interesting lifestyle for a few years.  I love meeting people who kinda shock me with stuff I never heard of and considered.  It makes me remember that for every person on this planet, there is a unique reality.

Off to SFO tonight.  Working on stuff with JL till sunday.  Have a great weekend.

New Glasses

Chris’ s party was so good….I lost my specs at Aura.  I didn’t want to get new ones so I went to the laser people yesterday…but I have to wait to get them zapped until monday cuz I am flying to SFO this weekend.  So I bought these cheap glasses in the meantime.
